When I planned for 1000 KM night ride, I had to listen to many objections, from family, friends, colleagues, relatives and an even unknown man in coffee shop, stopping by to give out his free piece of advice,
I'm sure you too had similar experience and heard many objections, which made you to think twice about long night ride, and another situation most planned night rides fail, because one friend calls up to say that he cannot make it just a day or couple of hours before starting, trust me riding solo is never boring,

Be Visible
The first and very most important thing, along with the basic headlights and Tail lamps, I suggest quality fog light, use fog light for clear visibility of roads, Factory made headlights are sometimes tricky it's doesn't help you on bad roads, you will end up on a sudden hump or pothole on road.
Reflective jackets for high visibility and Reflective strips for your vehicle,
Using proper reflectives while riding in night prevents other drivers running over, Most accidents happen lack of visibility to car and truck drivers. Not every car on the highway is equipped with advanced night vision mode and infrared cameras for the safety of animals and pedestrians.

Keep your knee warm.
We wear the best jackets and hand glove while riding, but ignore one vital part of body, Protect your knee not only with gears but also from changing temperatures, ignoring to protect your knee from cold may result in extreme tiredness to both mentally and physically
Do not remove Rear View Mirror, and be prepared for the flat tyre in the middle of a dark road, Ride as fast as you can only see, and most importantly clean your helmet visor very often, Use earplugs.
